Discover Genova and Liguria

Genoa is a city of contrasts of light and colours. Crossroads of cultures and peoples for ages it is also shy and reserved which is why it is called "The Superba". You will be fascinate little by little from this charming city capable to offer strong emotions.

Well known as an industrial city it turns out later to be rich in art and history, where the largest Italian port and the crowded beaches of Lido coexist in a perfect harmony.

Genoa can be seen like a "vertical city" because of the height of its buildings in contrast with its narrow alleys, known as "caruggi" and its little streets toward the hills known as "creuze".

From the hill of "Righi" it is enchanting to admire how the lights play on the see in a perfect contrast with the uncertain shadows of the narrow and intimate alleys and again, the harmony of the contrast between the intensity of the painted facades which alternate with the black of the slate.

Precious works of art from different historical periods and styles can be admired everywhere. Right in front of  "Porta Soprana", a small house recalls Cristoforo Colombo, the Genoese famous conqueror, celebrated all around the world. Palazzo Ducale, the Doge's residence and home of the maritime Republic for six centuries, today considered as the heart of the cultural life in Genoa. The Cathedral of San Lorenzo is a wonderful example of harmonious fusion of styles from different eras. Via Garibaldi with its "Rolli" (patrician houses of the Renaissance where theGenoese nobility used to give hospitality to their illustrious guests), today visible as  the Museums of Strada Nuova. Palazzo San Giorgio and the modern area of Porto Antico with its the famous Aquarium, space for concerts, festivals, walks, cinema, ice skating and more ... everything absolutely on the sea!

Liguria is like a magician trick: it looks like something when it is exactly something else: it is a region on the sea, but its soul is the earth.

Beside it should live on fishing, Genoa prefers to steal the hill areas for its typical growing which drawn the landscape. The western and eastern Riviera have different cultures: one end touching France, and the other touching Tuscany.

A few kilometers from the beaches climbers practice on breathtaking walls right a few steps from the baroque opulence.
